SA Meeting Summary: 9/10

Last Monday, the SA discussed a need for more engagement with President Richard Feldman, a new system for class registration, and the Legislative Committee’s respective current projects and activities.

Now though, Ponder said she does not rely on others’ approval of others to measure self-worth. At the end of the event, Ponder sang her song “Three Word Revolution.” The three-word revolution, Ponder said in introducing the song, is “I love myself.”

Student karaoke night embraces languages

The evening began on a high note with several people volunteering to sing in foreign languages. Even for people who did not speak those languages, many students agreed it was eye-opening to be amid the diversity the different languages brought.

Student town hall calls for progressive president

Student expectations of the next president included a willingness to be responsive and accessible to UR’s community, as well as developing further connections to the surrounding Rochester community.

Massage chairs garner positive uncertainty

Several students said they were planning to use the chairs frequently, in moments of stress or bodily pain, but others seemed more hesitant, calling them an unnecessary luxury.

Yellowjacket weekend creates buzz

Saturday marked the biggest day of Yellowjacket Weekend. Activities included bounce houses and an amusement ride were scattered throughout the quad, as well as food trucks, free “Feel the Sting” class-year shirts, a photo booth, and the Sig Ep Luau Dinner.

Faculty makes requests for future UR president

The meeting was framed by three questions. These were the qualities about UR that would attract a candidate to want to be president, the major challenges they would face, and characteristics the community would want to see in the next president.

Dining embraces fresh local foods with new partnership

With this new dining program, UR becomes one of a few universities nationally to show their commitment to locally-procured, personalized, and freshly-made food.
