After blowing out the Rochester Institute of Technology and Alfred State University two weeks ago men?s track team lost to long time rival St. Lawrence University 119-162 this past Saturday.

The Yellowjackets could attribute their loss partially to the difference in the facilities. St. Lawrence?s track is an unorthodox 160-meters instead of the usual 200-meter track, giving UR sprinters a challenging day.

In addition, St. Lawrence is known as a distance powerhouse and it came close to a clean sweep of the first-place finishes in the distance races on its home track.

Freshman Aaron Dausman dirtied the floor, as he was the only Yellowjacket to break the sweep in the distance events, winning the 800-meter in a time of two minutes, one second.

UR filled out the distance field with third places by junior Andy MacMillan and junior Dave Messenheimer in the 1500-meter and 3000-meter runs respectively.

UR also placed in second in the distance medley relay to close out the distance portion of the meet. The other relay of the meet was the 4×400 where UR came through with a team win in 3:35.

The sole victory in the sprints was by senior Andy Locke in the 55-meter dash where he won in a time of 6.72. Locke also placed third in the 200-meter dash.

The Yellowjackets came through in the clutch with a handful of second places ? junior Justin Lamontagne?s 8.48 in the 55-meter high hurdles, senior Jon Coyles? 53.07 in the 400-meter dash and junior Damien Leonard?s 1:09 in the 500-meter dash.

Senior Sam Albert, sophomore Brian Strandberg and junior Dan Levine closed out the scorers for the Yellowjackets.

Sophomore Andy Pagano and freshman Greg Duszek were the high scorers in the field events. Pagano scored seven points in his win of the high jump, while Duszek notched 11points in his second; third and fourth-place efforts in the triple and long jump, as well as the 55-meter dash.

Junior Ayaz Abdulla?s second in the long jump and sophomore Jon Kaiser?s third in the high jump rounded out the field event scoring.

Other outstanding performers include senior Mac Bonafede, and freshman Ben Bobich in the distance events.

Junior Scott Rhodes, freshman Alex Voetsch and sophomore Justin Panarese all had good races in the mid-distance events

UR will see action again on Friday, Feb. 2 as they host the UR Invitational at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Gym Field House.
