The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles and the UR Yellowjackets played to a 0-0 draw in Tuesday night’s men’s soccer match.

Brockport entered the night looking for their first ever win against UR. In both teams’ three prior matchups, the Yellowjackets outscored the Golden Eagles 7-0. The burden of the clean sheet would fall on the shoulders of UR goalkeeper and graduate student Santino Lupica-Tondo (#0), who looked to bounce back after a 2-1 loss to SUNY Cortland the week prior.

SUNY Brockport opened the game strong, playing aggressive and funneling the ball to junior forwards Peter Tinaj (#7) and Max Voyer (#19). Tinaj and Voyer would have their chances to go for goal, but came up unsuccessful. The Golden Eagles outshot the Yellowjackets 10-1 in the first half.

In the second half, UR picked up the pace. Right back junior Mikey Burke (#5), striker graduate student Kamal Ibrahim (#9), and substitute first-year Johnny Makula (#32) put the pressure on Brockport goalkeeper Andrew Taylor (#1). Taylor did not fold under the pressure, keeping the game scoreless until the sound of the final whistle.

Although UR maintained the clean sheet along with the defensive dominance over Brockport, the Yellowjackets are still looking for their first win of the season. They hope this win will come against undefeated Alvernia University on Sept. 7.

Brockport has yet to fall this season and will continue to roll into their next matchup against Clarkson University.

Top 10 best albums of 2024

It’s been an amazing year for music — some of my favorite albums of the decade came out, pop music thrived, as did rap, metal, and overall there were pretty much great albums coming out consistently every week.

Christmas has gone too far

People should look to other cultures to learn the truth of the cliche that holidays are about more than just gifts.
