The Yellowjackets swept Alfred University on the road Thursday, winning both games by a score of 5–4. 

Rochester scored in the first inning of the first game when sophomore Jensen Sminchak (CF) singled to right field, which scored senior Loren Castilloux (LF).

Castilloux hit a sacrifice fly to right in the third, which scored first-year Riley Laygo (RF). 

In the fifth, graduate student Hannah Keiper (1B) hit a double to center, which scored Laygo again. Next, first-year Julianna Lyons (3B) hit a single, scoring junior Jenna Gorecki (DP).

Alfred scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth. First, junior Meghan Neto (LF) singled to center, scoring senior Mya Wells (1B). Then, first-year Paris Guzman (DP) singled, scoring Neto and sophomore Ty Thomas (PR). 

In the sixth, Gorecki hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring junior Savannah Nowak (2B).

Wells sacrificed to center for Alfred in the bottom of the inning, scoring first-year Delaney Prather (PH), but it was not enough to close the gap.

Sophomore Molly Broccolo pitched 4.2 innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks for UR. Junior Lauren Keys pitched the final 2.1 innings and gave up two hits, no walks, and one earned run. 

Senior Megan Bennett pitched all seven innings for Alfred, allowing five runs, four of them earned, on 11 hits and two walks. 

In the next game, Gorecki opened the scoring in the first for UR with a single to center to score Laygo. 

In the bottom of the second, first-year Kody Watson (SS) hit a sacrifice fly to left for Alfred, scoring Neto. 

Come the top of the third, Keiper hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring first-year Katelyn Wade (LF). Next, Lyons reached on an error, scoring Gorecki. 

In the bottom of the inning, Neto hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring first-year Samantha Vidal (RF).

Wade reached on an error in the fourth, scoring Laygo and Nowak. 

Guzman scored the game’s final runs in the bottom of the fifth with a home run that also scored sophomore Brielle Wark (PR).

Sophomore Maddie White started the game for UR, pitching five innings and allowing four runs, two of them earned, on eight hits and one walk. Keys picked up the save with two perfect innings.

First-year Kendall Steward pitched all seven innings for Alfred, allowing five runs, only one earned, on six hits and two walks. 

Next, the Yellowjackets swept Ithaca College over two games, winning them 3–0 and 4–3, respectively. 

In the first game shutout, Laygo homered to left in the bottom of the first. 

Next, Nowak scored on a wild pitch from Ithaca junior Anna Cornell. 

Finally, junior Molly Mason (SS) singled to second in the fourth, scoring first-year Maithili Shah (PR). 

Both starters pitched complete games, with Broccolo pitching seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and one walk.

Ithaca’s Cornell pitched six innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks. 

Ithaca scored first in the second game when sophomore Haley Petrucci (C) doubled to left, scoring sophomore Jessie Lopez (LF).

Mason singled in the bottom of the second, scoring senior Hunter Gilbreath (C) and Shah. 

In the third, Keys grounded out to senior Ainsley Rogers (P), scoring Gorecki. 

In the fourth, Castilloux doubled to right, scoring Wade. 

In the sixth, senior Hudson Hassler (RF) hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Petrucci.

In the seventh, junior Sela Scheinman homered to left for the game’s final run. 

Keys pitched five innings for UR, allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits and no walks. White picked up the save in two innings of work, allowing one earned run on Scheinman’s homer. 

Rogers pitched three innings for Ithaca, allowing three earned runs on two hits and two walks. First-year Mady Rowell took over in relief for three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits.
