On Tuesday night, the women’s tennis team faced off against Nazareth College and earned a commanding win, 8-1.

Originally intended for Nazareth’s outdoor courts, the match was moved to Goergen’s indoor courts due to inclement weather. A home court advantage was unlikely to have helped Nazareth this time, however, as UR took the win in every singles match and all but one doubles match, causing four women to end the day with double wins.

In the No. 1 singles position, freshman Lia Weiner didn’t lose a single game, winning in two sets, 6-0, 6-0. At second singles, senior Colleen Cross got the win in two sets as well, 6-4, 6-2.

In the first doubles match, Weiner and Cross paired up together to take on their singles competitors, Nazareth’s Stephanie Parvan and Rachel Leonard, but were unable to repeat their wins, falling 6-8 in a tough battle.

At No. 3 singles, senior Alexa Perry followed the singles trend, defeating the Golden Eagles’ Jackie Martinez, 6-2, 6-2. In the fourth singles spot, freshman Elana Polivy dominated Jess Faber in two sets, once again, 6-1, 6-0.

Perry and Polivy joined forces to face Martinez an Faber in the No. 2 doubles match and didn’t give up a single game, winning 8-0.

In the fifth singles match, junior Melinda Beckmann defeated Nazareth’s Danielle Carinci in a hard-fought first match and an easy second set, 7-5, 6-1. In the final single match of the day, freshman Diane Samuels beat Elizabeth Way easily, 6-1, 6-0.

For the third doubles match, Beckmann teamed up with freshman Nisha Javeri for UR’s eighth point. They defeated their competitors from Nazareth, 8-6.

The win against the Eagles brings UR’s dual match record to 3-0. They now take a long break until they go to Cornell University on Oct. 19 for the New York State Championship Meet.

People are going to remember, and it’s all right

I stick to my belief that people do remember, and maybe sometimes, it is that deep. Some people do remember when you make that mistake.

“143” review: Katy Perry needs a wellness check

I wish I could say I respect Perry for trying, but her total lack of respect for music, her fans, and herself makes it impossible for me to do so.
