Memes are an important part of our society and campus community. But where’s the best place to get your meme fix? Here’s a non-exhaustive list of meme sources in no particular order.
Overheard at Rochester
This Facebook page is a college classic. Many universities around the country have their own versions, but it’s certainly still a good time. Most of the posts are not memes, but weird and funny quotes that students overhear around campus. A common accusation is that the posters often don’t overhear quotes, but manufacture them, but that doesn’t detract from the humor. Sometimes things here get a bit spicy, with people making very pointed posts related to political or social issues, but for the most part it’s just the nonsense that comes out of the mouths of college students.

Ever Better Memes for Meliora Teens
This is the go-to place for many students to find and share their memes. The memes are usually fairly original and always UR-related, making this a reliable place for your meme fix. Like Overheard, the comments can get spicy, but they are usually just more memes or people tagging their friends. The major downside to this page is that it is a Facebook page, so if you use it, Mark Zuckerberg is definitely spying on you.

@ur_memes23
Instagram is the go-to for memes of all kinds, including UR-flavored. This account is a favorite of many members of the class of 2023, but many others might find it relatable. The page is run by two admins, who maintain their anonymity while also having all sorts of contact with followers. They will happily reply to DMs and may even post your memes if you send a good one. They also often share personal thoughts and news through their stories. The memes themselves are a great mix of formats that always target a specific idea. The admins also express unpopular opinions (like calling Danforth Dining Hall “Danny” instead of “Dfo”) and disagree with each other, which can be very amusing, though they occasionally take it too far. Even if you aren’t a first-year, this page is worth a look.

Meme Chats
Everyone has a meme chat. Or two, or three. These are great places to share jokes that the general population might not understand. Sometimes these private groups are a group of friends, or a student organization, or a random group of people who only slightly know each other. The best thing to do with these is to mute notifications and check in from time to time, otherwise your phone might blow up with notifications every few days. Private groups tend to be very relatable, but it can be important to cultivate which ones you join, as some can be very offensive, or strange. This is dedicated to your group’s meme chat.
