A campus visitor walking along Wilson Boulevard was inappropriately grabbed by a passerby last Thursday at 6 p.m., according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

The visitor, who had been walking with a friend, immediately called UR Security via a blue light emergency phone and officers responded immediately.

A physical description of the suspect – who had grabbed the victim’s buttocks in what was later described as an attempt to get her attention – was broadcast and an individual matching it was found between Ford and McClean Streets.

The individual, who had scaled a wall and jumped into the Genesee River, was located by an off-duty Rochester firefighter and talked out of the river.

The assailant was found to be a 17-year-old high school student and was arrested by the Rochester Police Department, according to Lafferty.

The person was later issued an interim ban from campus property and the victim was found to be uninjured.Student attacked on bus to Senior NightAn undergraduate student reported that he had been attacked on the bus going to last Thursday’s Senior Night, according to Lafferty.

The victim told UR Security that he had been waiting for the bus when a group of students rushed toward and forced themselves on it.

Once the bus was loaded, some of those who were seated commented that those who were standing should leave the bus. The victim said that the situation could have been avoided had the group of students not rushed onto the bus.

Immediately after this comment, the suspect slapped the victim about six times in the face, according to Lafferty.

The victim then exited the bus.

UR Security’s investigation is ongoing and any students who may have witnessed the event are encouraged to contact Security.

The victim reported that three non-student suspects had tried to enter the house during the evening but had been denied.

Later, as the victim was standing on a picnic table outside the house, the three suspects approached and knocked him over.

As the victim fell, he struck his head on a metal railing and cut his forearm.

The three suspects fled the area, according to Lafferty.

The victim was initially assisted by SC brothers and was later transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.Information provided by UR Security.
