1. At 11:32 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, a graduate student notified security that he had been robbed on Congress Avenue.
While dropping off his friend at his residence, two unidentified suspects approached the car. One suspect had a shotgun and demanded that he get out of his car. The student complied, and the suspects quickly got into the car and drove off.
The victim was not hurt, but his residence keys were on the key ring in the vehicle. The victim filed a police report. The second student left his cell phone and wallet in the vehicle that was stolen, and later spoke with Security and the police.
Man arrested for smashing car windows and stealing belongings
2. At 10:53 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, an alert contractor notified Security that he had seen an individual running from a vehicle parked in northern Wilson Lot. The vehicle had a smashed window.
Responding officers located two individuals walking on the Genesee river path adjacent to McClean Street, one of which matched the description provided by the witness. Officers initiated contact with the pair and identified them as having no UR affiliation.
Responding police officers spoke with both men and determined that the suspect had smashed the windows of three vehicles in Wilson North and River Lot and had stolen a small amount of cash and a cord for an electrical device. The suspect was identified as Rochester resident Renelder Price, 43, and arrested by Rochester Police. Both individuals were issued ban forms.
The vehicle owners were notified and filed police reports.
Graduate student threatened by gunman
3. At 10:33 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, a graduate student notified Security that he had been threatened by a supposedly armed individual.
While walking to campus along South Plymouth Avenue, the student walked by an unidentified individual who told him to turn around.
The student turned but continued to back away. The suspect told the student to stop or he would shoot him.
The student fled the area across the pedestrian footbridge, knocking blue light emergency phones off the hook as he ran. Security met the student on Fraternity Road and police were notified.
Although no weapon was seen by the student and no injury or theft occurred, police and Security officers checked the immediate and surrounding areas for the suspect without success.
Men caught trespassing and possessing hypodermic syringes/needles
4. Building service workers notified Security at 6:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when they saw two people walking through Hutchinson Hall checking door handles. When the suspects noticed they were being watched, they left the building.
Responding officers located the two on Trustee Road and they were found to have no UR affiliation. Rochesterian Marcus Grisham, 28, was arrested by police for possesion of hypodermic syringes/needles and was taken into custody. The syringes/needles are not believed to have been stolen from campus. Both suspects were issued ban forms, and the individual who was not arrested departed the property.
Deer impales itself on fence near Mt. Hope Cemetary
5. At 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, officers were sent to the footpath adjacent to the Mt. Hope Cemetery for a deer that had impaled itself on the cemetery fence.
Rochester Police were also dispatched to the area. The deer had to be put down and was later removed by city special services staff.
Armed Individual Seen on Campus
6. Security was notified at 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, that an unidentified individual was seen at the corner of Alumni and Fraternity Roads and had what appeared to be the butt of a rifle stock protruding from his coat.
The suspect proceeded to walk toward Wilson Commons. Security had been notified 10 minutes after the suspect was sighted, and responding officers checked area cameras in both the immediate and surrounding locations, including the Goergen Athletic Complex and Wilson Commons, but did so to no avail.
Eastman student has saxophone stolen
7. A student at the Eastman School of Music reported that his saxophone and case were stolen from his locker in the basement of the school between 4 and 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.
The victim reported that the locker was unsecured during the identified time frame. A police report was filed.
Unauthorized individual returns to library
8. After an unauthorized person who had been previously banned from the facility entered the Sibley Music Library in the Miller Center, officers responded to locate and identify the suspect who was found to have no UR affiliation.
He was told he was no longer able to use the library and was escorted from the facility without incident. The suspect was issued a ban form, which was torn up and discarded as he left the library.
Seventeen-year-old car bandits in the making
9. At 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, Security was notified of two suspects checking out bikes at the bike rack outside Kendrick House and then walking in the direction of northern Wilson Lot.
Security staff monitoring the area witnessed the suspects then checking car door handles in Wilson Lot. Responding officers located the individuals who claimed to have been just cutting through the lot.
Rochester Police responded and the two were identified as 17-year-olds with no UR affiliation. Both were warned/advised and issued ban forms. They departed the property without incident.
