U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand held a press conference at UR in Wallis Hall last Wednesday, Oct. 27, to discuss the post 9/11 G.I. Bill and advantages that this bill gives to veterans pursuing a higher education in New York state.

Congressman Dan Maffei, UR President Joel Seligman, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jonathan Burdick, students Thomas O’Toole, Jesse Kinsella and Rory Hamilton participated along with Gillibrand in this discussion about the benefits of the G.I. Bill.

The Rochester Pledge Scholarship was started in the fall of 2009 at UR. This scholarship guarantees full tuition and mandatory fees supported for any qualified veterans attending the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering and the Eastman School of Music undergraduate studies program. More specifically, their tuition will be funded through a variety of benefits under the G.I. Bill, federal and state aid and lastly, the Rochester Pledge Scholarship.
