Staff in Hopeman Hall notified UR Security that sometime between Nov. 26 and 27 someone entered a classroom on the second floor and removed three oscilloscopes from the room. The equipment was valued at an estimated $8,745, Security Investigator Dan Latterty said.

An oscilloscope is a cathode ray tube that generates waves on an electric screen, and is used to measure electrical waves.

The room was locked at the time of the theft and no other property was stolen from inside the room. A report was filed with the Rochester Police Department.

Altercation at SAM leaves one injured

A member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity was assaulted early Saturday morning when he attempted to get someone to leave the SAM House.

Initial reports from people on the scene said the member of SAM was trying to get the person under control when the suspect, who was not affiliated with UR, was pushed off the top step. The student fell to the ground and was transported to the hospital for lacerations to the head.

A group of people gathered outside the house and three separate skirmishes occurred between members of the crowd and the suspect.

The suspect fled the area on his vehicle. The victim filed a report with RPD.

The matter is still under investigation by security.

No other property was stolen from inside the room and no one suspicious was reported in the area, Lafferty said.

Wallet stolen from Goergen

A student reported to security that a wallet containing $160, credit cards and other important documents was stolen from inside a pants pocket in the Goergen Athletic Center sometime between 6 and 9 p.m. Nov. 28.
